The birth of Lord Krishna is a very interesting anecdote. There was a kingdom of King Ugrasena in Mathura, he was a very Prajavatsal and kind king. His son Kansa was very cruel and wicked unlike him. There came a time when he took his father Ugrasen captive and himself became the king of Mathura.
Kansa had a sister named Devaki. Kansa married her integral friend Vasudev. When Jaw Kansa was leaving his sister, it was predicted that Devaki's eighth son would kill Kansa. On hearing this, Kansa put Devaki and Vasudev in jail.
As soon as he had any child, he would hit his head on the wall of the jail and kill him. In this way, seven sons of Devaki were killed. The miracle happened when Devaki was to have the eighth son.
It started raining heavily and storms started coming. There was dark darkness. Meanwhile, Krishna, the sixteenth incarnation of Vishnu, was born in the prison of Kamsa. As soon as Krishna was born, all the soldiers became furious.
Vasudev was freed from his fetters and all the doors of the prison were opened. Vasudev understood that this is the hair of Lord Krishna.
Putting Kanhaiya in a basket, he lifted it on his head and set out to visit his friend Nanda. Nanda was the king of his village. The village was in Vrindavan and on the way there was the Yamuna river. The Yamuna was in full swing due to rain.
Vasudev descended into the Yamuna carrying Krishna on his head. The Yamuna started to rise to touch her lord's feet. Water reached Vasudev's nose. God knew that if the Yamuna would not accept without touching his feet.
Then God removed his feet from the basket. The Yamuna cleansed Bal Krishna's feet with his water and then started pouring water and Vasudev came to Nanda village with Lord Krishna.
When Vasudev arrives at Nanda's house, he finds that Nanda's wife is having childbirth and has received a daughter Ratna. Vasudev narrated the entire story to Nanda and requested him to give shelter to Lord Krishna, the destroyer of Kamsa.
Nanda gladly agreed to this. In return, he gave his daughter to Vasudev so that Kansa could be told that Devaki did not have a son. Vasudev returned to the prison with the daughter of Nanda. When Kansa finds out that Devaki has got a daughter.
He comes and snatches them and gives her to the wall but then a miracle happens and she turns into a daughter Devi and tells Kansa that the one who killed her has been born in Gokul.
